50th Anniversary

The 2016-2017 Season marks a special milestone for the Georgina Skating Club. As our motto says, “Offering Quality Skating Since 1966” – we turned 50 and we’re going to celebrate during Ice Show weekend, Friday the 28th and Saturday the 29th of April.

As a bit of historical background, the Georgina Skating Club originally came into existence as the North Gwillimbury Figure Skating Club in 1966, operating out of the North Gwillimbury Memorial Centre. In the mid-late 1970s, the Club’s name was changed to the Keswick Figure Skating Club and then again changed in the mid-1990s, to The Georgina Skating Club.

If you’re a Facebook user, we’ve set up an Ice Show/50th Anniversary Event which will also provide updates about the festivities.

As well, there is also a Georgina Skating Club 50th Anniversary Facebook group. We’re using this group to allow North Gwillimbury Figure Skating Club, Keswick Figure Skating Club and GSC alumni to share their memories! Group members are encouraged to share photos, video and newspaper clippings! It’s a lot of fun taking a stroll down memory lane.

We will post updates about special activities and events during Ice Show weekend on the website and Facebook group periodically leading up to Ice Show.

And if you’re an alumni, head over here to check out what we have planned!
