What is the Adult program?
This program is for skaters 18 years and older. It is suitable for beginners to experienced skaters looking to get back on to the ice.
Each class is 50 minutes to 1 hour in length and is fully coached. A typical session involves group lessons for approximately half the session, followed by time to work on individual goals, supervised by our Skate Canada certified coaches.
What equipment do skaters require?
- Skates: either figure or hockey skates are recommended. Please take the time to have your skates fitted properly and ensure new skates have been sharpened before your 1st session. Stability attachments on blades are not permitted, nor are chairs or other skating aids.
- If you are a beginner or have not completed the equivalent of the CanSkate program, a CSA approved hockey helmet is mandatory. Bicycle or skiing helmets are not acceptable.
Who is on the ice with the skaters?
All Georgina Skating Club programs are taught by coaches certified with Skate Canada and the Coaching Association of Canada. They are also First Aid certified.
What is the Skate Canada membership fee?
All skaters must be registered with Skate Canada prior to taking to the ice. The annual membership fee for the 2024/2025 season will be $61.70. This annual Skate Canada membership and insurance is valid from September 1st 2024 to August 31st 2025. This fee is 100% non-refundable.
